MH Counselling is now officially Watermark Counselling Co.

As we usher in this new era of our business as Watermark Counselling, we would like to share that we are officially sunsetting the MH Counselling name.

Existing MH Counselling Clients: There should be zero impact on the service you receive. We hate new passwords and logins as much as you!

Current MH Counselling clients can expect…

  • the same exemplary service

  • the same booking system (by phone or Janeapp – both remain)

  • the same billing process

  • the same phone number and address

  • the same counsellors and same ownership

Our old email addresses still work but moving forward, please email hello@watermarkcounselling.ca. We will also update/register the new name with the insurance companies so you should NOT have to make any changes on your insurance.

Your counsellors Mark Holland, myself (Alison Holland), and Sky Lee are all still here, and we are NOT under new ownership.

Fun fact: Google, was founded in 1995 and was initially named Backrub.

So, if nothing changes, why the name change?

The name, Watermark Counselling Co., was carefully chosen after many, many, trial runs.  A watermark is a symbol of authenticity and ownership.  In addition, it combines a sense of strength and responsibility with the therapeutic connection we have with the ocean, living on the West Coast. You can read more about Watermark on our About Page.

MH Counselling had suited us well when Mark Holland was the only counsellor providing services. As we grew, it was clear we needed a name and a brand that reflected the growth within the company and the expansion of offerings available for clients.

Expanded Offerings at Watermark

Over the past nine months we have thoughtfully and intentionally curated our offerings into the areas in which we are confident we have the knowledge, experience, and expertise to help.

Expansion details

  • New Clinicians! - We are bringing on additional clinicians who are experts in the field of family support, family conflict, parenting, and adoption services.

  • Internship Program - We have created a student internship program which will not only allow for the growth and development of attachment-based, trauma-informed clinicians but also ensure our services are available at affordable rates for those that need them.

Through this process of change, our commitment to our clients has remained clear.  We have prioritized ensuring accessing counselling is as easy as possible.

We know change is hard, and often slow.

This is a principle we stand by and often integrate into our work with clients.  Moving forward, falling back, is how change occurs – a bit at a time, integrating more over time, trial after trial.  We are proud of how far we have come and excited about what is yet to be.

As such, it may take some time for our various outlets (Psychology Today, Counselling BC, and other organizations) to update our new name.

As many of our current clients may know, our counselling practice was created so that Mark and I can help high achievers and high performers in Vancouver suffering from anxiety, stress, and relationship challenges while also being able to prioritize our own mental health and most of all, our relationship with our own three beautiful children.

We have been successfully able to do so, and our family and team thanks you for trusting us and allowing us to be a part of your journey of change and growth.

We hope to continue serving you as well as all new Watermark clients.
